FINALISING MUSIC VIDEO & AUDIENCE FEEDBACK.

When finalising my video I took some audience feedback and the majority all pointed out the same thing about the colour differences.

RGB Colour Correction.

Looking back at the footage I had, I noticed that the audience feedback was right and some shots looked dull whilst others where bursting with sunlight. To try change and even this out, I used Premiere Pro's 'video effects' and 'effect controls' to alter my video. As my video was filmed in full HD, the video quality stayed more or less the same.

Before:

After:
To do this, I simply clicked on the video, and then went to the effects pannel. I looked through a few different effects but the RGB colour effect was the one that made the biggest difference on my video. I changed the red and green levels the most and slightly changed the blue. As I looked through my other clips I noticed I needed to apply the same effect to those too. I didn't want to to this independantly on each clip as it could result to the clips all being slightly different light-wise. It would also take a long time to do this. So, I right clicked the video I had just edited, and pressed 'copy' I then right clicked the other videos and selected 'Paste attributes''. This copied all the effects I had put on one video straight onto all the others. I like how the effect has turned out as it doesn't look too over the top or grainy, it gives just the right amount of light boost to the video and still looks natural.

MUSIC VIDEO DRAFT 4.

Finally figured out the problem with Flash Professional and the rotoscoping file, I still need to upload the rest as only some parts would export but I know how to fit the problem now.

NARRATIVE THEORIES

I'm going to be researching and discussing a few media theorists and what their ideas are in terms of narrative structure, I will then assume my video into the category which I think it will fit under.

Vladimir Propp.
Propp proposed that we should classify characters into defined roles based on the functions they do. He said the usual character roles are:
The Hero, the villian, the donor (helps the hero), the dispatcher (sends hero on his way), the false hero (falsely assuming role of the actual hero), the princess (needs help from the hero), her father.

Tzvetan Todorov.
Todorov suggests that most narratives start off with a state of equilibrium in which life is normal. The normality is then disrupted by an outside force, therefore either a new equilibrium is produced at the end of the narrative or the previous state of equilibrium is resolved.

Equilibrium > Disequilibrium > New Equilibrium

Roland Barthes.
Barthes suggests the narrative has 5 different codes which the active audience make sense of them.
Codes: Action, enigma, symbolic, semic, cultural.

In my music video at the start, the camera is a high angle shot and spins as it slowly zooms in to the actress - *note at this point she has a white dress on - the camera then cuts to the guitar and cuts back to her with a different costume on and her sitting up looking around. The ideology behind this was that she's 'waking up' into an alternate reality dream world, which is where the rotoscope animation comes in - obviously rotoscoping doesn't happen in real life therefore we know it's an alternate reality and not real. This therefore comes under a state of equilibrium being disrupted.
In conclusion, my video not only comes under performance, animation and abstract - it also uses Todorov's narrative theory.

MUSIC VIDEO DRAFT 3

Rotoscope/animation (main part of my video) was meant to be included in this video but Flash isn't letting me export it and saying it can't be read. I'm really annoyed because I've been working on the animation and rotoscope for weeks on Flash Professional but it is saying Javascript error... I feel asthough my final music video doesn't make any sense as the parts where my actress is walking was going to have animation on the walls and some parts rotoscoped. However, I'm going to re try tonight to get the animated/rotoscope file to open on Flash so I can export it as it was a huge part of my video.

WEBSITE DRAFTS AND PROCESS

To create my website for my artist, I used the website creator 'Wix.com'. It is an easy site to use with hundreds of templates to chose from, whilst also being able to manipulate them in whatever way you want.

I chose a template that had quite a neutral tone to it with pastel colours, the background was also cartoon clouds which I thought fit well with my music video. After looking at the codes and conventions of websites and creating my mockups, I had a clear idea of what I wanted my website to look like. It also helped a lot during the process that I had drafts of my music video and digipak avalible, this acted as second and third references that I could look back on and make sure it was all flowing together and had continuity throughout my products.

To start off, I created the main title for my website. I wanted to use blue and white as a house style colour throughout all 3 products so I simply used the brush tool in Photoshop and set the opacity to 20% on the blue colour. I then painted diagonal lines across the page which appeared really light. After this I changed the opacity to 50% and did the same thing, and then once again changed the opacity to 90% and once again drew diagonal lines across the image. Doing so created a sky like texture so the background wasn't just a solid blue colour which I think would look boring. To add the text, I used the font which I also used in my digipak, I downloaded the font from DaFont.com as I wasn't too keen on the preset fonts on Photoshop, the font also had a unique 'handwriting' look to it which I liked.
Thinking back to my AS coursework, I remembered having 'EXCLUSIVE!' in black writing on a solid yellow background, this immediately attracts the audiences attention and will especially stand out on my blue and white themed website. I wanted to include this again as I think it will show the importance of the new music video to the audience and make them feel like they part of an exclusive update. I added a drop shadow to add more depth to the image, and simply used the same font again in black.
Draft 1:
First draft of the top of my website so far. I added some text under the main heading which says 'DEBUT ALBUM OUT NOW!' 'NEOPOLITAN DREAMS' I thought this would automatically grab the readers attention, placing it under the header seemed a good option as it's the first thing the audience see when visiting a website, so placing it under the header will show it's an update and new. I still need to change some of the writing on my website as it's preset from the wix template.

Draft 2:
I decided to add some plugging techniques and social networking sites to my website to make it appeal to active audiences and also younger audiences. I simply created a text on Photoshop that reads 'GET INVOLVED! FOLLOW LISA! TWITTER YOUTUBE INSTAGRAM' I then on the right hand side placed 3 icons. However, looking back at it is looks quite messy and I think I can definately improve on this. I also realised I wrote 'Youtube' but didn't add a Youtube icon, and I also included a Facebook icon, but didn't write 'Facebook'. I have also embedded a link to my final music video (not currently the final video but will change the embed link once finished)

Draft 3:
I decided to change the social networking text and imagery on my website. To do this I simply opened up Photoshop and chose a more bold font that would stand apart from the handwriting font for the main header. I then saved the icons for Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and cropped these into the file. I chose to use these particular social networking sites as I think they are the most popular, especially to the younger audience.
